Q HOUSE

2018

Located in Ribeirão Preto, in the countryside of São Paulo, this house occupies a plot of land with a geometry similar to that of a parallelogram with approximately 18m in front by 35m in depth. The strategy for occupying the lot aimed to create a strip built in the southern portion and an outdoor strip for the pool and backyard in the northern portion, which enjoys better sunshine conditions.

The simple slope of 1.40m of the land, added to the desire to integrate interior and exterior, suggested the organization of the program on three floors.
Access to the residence - one meter above the street level - is made through the ground floor, which is the intermediate floor of the building. Its plan, as well as the implementation, is organized in a north and a south strip. The first, entirely glazed, houses the living and dining room and office, while the second is intended for wet areas - laundry, kitchen and toilet - and vertical circulation.
A large beam of 2.10m high covers 12m of span to, in addition to supporting the upper block and demarcating the entrance to the house, enable the opening to the garage in the basement, ensuring a freer ground floor. The lower floor also houses technical and service areas.
The expressive upper concrete volume houses the most intimate program consisting of the suites and television room. On the north face of this block, a long balcony protects the rooms from the most intense sunshine. The generous overhangs of the block suspended in the air also help to create shaded zones that provide pleasant living areas on the ground floor.
