The Pimentas Unified Education Center is located in Guarulhos, in the Pimentas neighborhood (São Paulo, Brazil), a place lacking community facilities aimed at teaching, leisure and sports. The project is configured in a line, materialized in a large metal roof that shelters the various uses on the edges of its longitudinal dimension, articulated by a central void that culminates in the area dedicated to sports use. The aquatic complex is located outside this axis, in an external area. The flat topography and the linear shape of the terrain were decisive for this party.
The various uses are distributed in blocks, sometimes in prefabricated concrete, sometimes in cast-in-situ concrete. The library, classrooms and cafeteria are located on the west side of the axis. On the opposite side, the volumes of the classrooms, Olympic gymnastics, dance and auditoriums are located.
The central void is the square. Without a previously defined program, it articulates and gives continuity to the programming around it through suggested routes on the ground floor and bridges on the first floor, welcoming permanences and diverse uses along its free space benches. Contributing to this diversity and playful atmosphere are the colors chosen for the interior facades, which vary from green to yellow, in different shades.
