Colégio Cristo Rei, located in the neighborhood of Vila Mariana in São Paulo, is part of the history of the occupation of this neighborhood, having been established in the 30s on one of the main roads of the neighborhood.
The school's current facilities have houses and buildings that over time have been purchased and renovated, to meet the growing demand of students. However, in recent years it has become necessary to restructure the flows and uses of the entire complex, in addition to exhausting the constructive potential of the land.
The project consists of the organization of the flows and uses of the 4 existing blocks (Sisters' Residence, Classrooms, Auditorium and Gymnasium), plus the execution of a new building connected to the pre-existing ones, which houses early childhood education rooms.
The existing patio, kept only as a reference for the organization of the architectural complex, is restructured and strengthened as a square for collective use, having removed elements that interfered with its reading as such.
