BARUERI GYMNASIUM

2001

The Municipal Sports Gymnasium of Barueri is a public facility aimed at the practice of sports and community use, articulating competition, training and leisure activities. The project adopts a clear and functional design, structured from a large main volume that houses the covered sports court, bleachers and support areas, complemented by administrative spaces, locker rooms and outdoor courts. The structural solution combines reinforced concrete and metal structure in biarticulated arches, giving the whole spatial amplitude, constructive rationality and adequate response to the technical requirements of the program.

The materiality favors robust and durable systems, compatible with the intense use of public equipment, with exposed concrete facades and painted surfaces, in addition to thermoacoustic metal roofing that ensures environmental comfort. The internal spaces are organized in an objective way, with clear circulations and efficient sectorization, while the external areas incorporate courts, parking lots and landscaped open spaces, expanding the possibilities of use and integration with the urban environment. The project, therefore, seeks to combine technical performance, formal clarity and collective vocation, reaffirming the gymnasium as a structuring element of the sports and social life of Barueri.
