SÃO PAULO ZOO

2021

The Parque das Fontes do Ipiranga, a site of significant historical importance, will be restructured with the aim of reflecting the interaction between humans and the environment, with a focus on sustainability and respect for the biosphere. The intervention aims to transform the current space, which includes the Botanical Garden, the Zoo and the Zoo Safari, into an integrated and educational environment, promoting a better understanding of the relationship between man and nature.

Integration of Spaces
To create a cohesive experience, the Botanical Garden will be renamed Bio Flora, and the Zoo to Bio Fauna. The connection between these areas will be facilitated by a longitudinal line that will serve as the central axis of the park. This new structure will revitalize and expose existing waterways, improving drainage and allowing for richer environmental interpretation.
Sustainability and Accessibility Strategies
The project adopts sustainable practices, such as the reorganization of watercourses and the implementation of drainage floors to improve soil permeability. A multimodal mobility system will be implemented, including bike lanes, electric minibuses, and pedestrian and wheelchair-friendly access. Renewable materials, such as engineered wood, will be used in the construction.
Access and Infrastructure
The accesses to the Bio Flora and Bio Fauna sectors will be redesigned, incorporating roofs, kiosks and integrated ticketing systems. The idea is to minimize conflicts between pedestrians and vehicles, promoting a more fluid and organized experience. New bus stops and parking systems will be implemented to improve the flow of visitors.

Digital Connectivity
The park's new app, App Bio, will provide information about the park, animal feeding schedules, and allow the purchase of tickets and reservations. QR codes distributed throughout the park will offer interactive content, enriching the visit with educational information.
Phases and Interventions
The project will be implemented in phases, starting with the creation of the central axis that will connect Bio Flora and Bio Fauna. The remodeling of accesses and the updating of visual communication will be prioritized. The new structure of the park will allow for deeper learning about the relationship with the environment and will promote sustainable and educational tourism.
Transformation of the Enclosures
The Botanical Garden will have a gazebo and a renovated multipurpose space, while the Zoo will be redesigned to create more natural and comfortable habitats for the animals. The Zoo's former farm will be transformed into a new Safari, with a hotel, providing an educational and immersive experience for visitors.
This project aims not only to upgrade the park's infrastructure but also to reimagine the interaction between visitors and nature, promoting a model of sustainability and environmental education.
