RCBF LAW FIRM

2003

The building, headquarters of a law firm, is located on an avenue outside the central area of Curitiba, in a sector with little density, but in transformation. Despite its small dimensions, this bipartite volume presents a singular sense of monumentality, emphasized by the arrival esplanade.

A generous vestibule, glazed and open, triple height (9.50m) works as a transitional element between the exterior and the interior. In addition, it serves as an anteroom for the small half-buried auditorium that detaches obliquely from the building over the reflecting pool of the esplanade. This volume, made of exposed concrete, at a slightly more open angle than the blind plane of the stairs, induces the eye to the access to the building.
The roof, made of copper sheets and slightly sloping, floats over the vestibule and, like the glass front plane, strengthens the sense of lightness and transparency of the whole.
Inside the vestibule and along its entire length a vertical plane, made of red sandstone, highlights the longitudinal division of the building and functions as a second facade. Behind it, the set of rooms configures the compact half of the building, which, organized on three floors, takes advantage of the generous view of a golf course located to the west of the lot.
The infrastructures – sanitary facilities, pantry and elevator – are concentrated at the north end, next to the border, and on the third floor, a special room with double height marks its presence through a curved volume that projects over the void of the vestibule. A small edicule, at the rear limit of the lot, houses the small garage and the complementary administrative functions.
