The natural condition of a place is always unique. Topography, vegetation and climatic conditions are never repeated in a site. The area of the Technology Park and the land destined for the implementation of the headquarters of FATMA and FAPESC presented a singular beauty in their origin. The project is left with the proposition of a new beauty, considering that the original vegetation has been lost.
This new beauty must start from a dialogue with geography, and with the public paths of the campus through the terrain. In this way, the project is designed as a conciliation between these elements and the architecture of the building.
The architectural party proposes a clear division between the headquarters of FATMA and FAPESC, through the introduction of a free floor with public access that configures a square, without prejudice to the demand for controlled access and the privacy of the work areas. This movement is intended to reconstruct the topography after the necessary excavations, and the recovery of the footpaths through the site. It can be understood as a generosity of the institutions that will be installed there, an urban kindness towards the campus.
This design decision satisfies the demand for the creation of permeable interfaces between public and private space, so as to promote interaction between both spheres*. It also serves to encourage the diversity and complementarity of urban uses and activities* and to respect the landscape and attention to the impacts resulting from the intervention on the visuals of the area, insofar as the project does not externally present retaining walls or blind gables.
